PLEASE NOTE DOUGLAS MEDICAL CENTRE WILL ONLY BE OPEN FOR VERY SPECIFIC CLINICS. ALL GP APPOINTMENTS WILL BE HELD AT WALLACETOWN HEALTH CENTRE.

There is no longer an open access surgery.

Following instructions from your GPs, all requests for a GP appointment will be screened by our reception staff who will ask you why you would like to see the Doctor and perhaps advise that your request may be better handled by another health professional e.g. physiotherapy or pharmacy.

It is possible to see a GP face to face but the GP would telephone you initially as some matters can be dealt with over the phone.

It may be possible to have a video consultation with the GP or Nurse. This must be pre arranged however. Please call the surgery as normal and if this it is decided your call is suitable for a video consultation, please click open the Near Me Video Consultations tab and follow the instructions.

Your patience at this time would be very much appreciated, we have witnessed a surge in demand to see a GP this past few months whilst struggling ourselves to deal with the problems that COVID has brought.


Annual Review Appointments

Your annual chronic disease review may have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. We are trying our best to catch up, if you have any acute issues in the meantime, please contact your surgery to arrange an appointment.

We are now only sending ONE invite for chronic disease annual reviews . If you do not attend this invite, you will not be recalled for a further year.

Patients who fail to attend 

Due to the dramatic increase in non attended GP and Nurse appointments, Family Medical Group have now implemented the following policy;

If you fail to attend 3 appointments within a 6 month period, you will be removed from our practice list.

Following the first and second non attended appointment, we will send you a letter.

Should a third non attendance occur during the 6 month period, you will then receive a letter advising you that you have been removed from our list. This letter will include details of how to register with another GP practice.

You will have 8 days from the date of the third letter before you are removed.

It is very unfortunate that we have had to implement these measures, but in todays climate where the demand for appointments is ever increasing, patients who book then fail to attend appointments are delaying the opportunity for others to see a health professional.


Scottish Bowel Screening Service

This is a very important service as bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in Scotland.

The service is open to any man or woman aged between 50-74years.

You should automatically be sent a testing kit every 2 years around the time of your birthday. If this does not happen please call 0800 0121 833 to request a kit.

Personal Details

Please ensure that you keep your personal details up to date with us including any changes of address or mobile phone number to ensure we can contact you when required.


Repeat Prescriptions

Online repeat prescription ordering has changed. To order your prescription online please click the link below to use our new system, Patient Services. You will need to register for this service

Please ask at reception or download the Patient Services registration forms here.

 Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

You can also order your medications in the surgery, simply tick the items you require on your repeat slip and  hand this in to the reception desk, your prescription should be available for collection within 48 working hours. If you have made arrangements with a pharmacy to pick up your prescription, please allow another full day.

You can also post it to us together with a stamped addressed envelope and we will post the prescription back to you.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will need to have their medication needs reviewed at least once a year. This can sometimes be carried out over the phone, but you may be asked to make an appointment to see either a doctor or practice nurse.
