We are priviledged to have Practice Nurses who specialise in travel immunisation and advice. It is advisable to contact the surgery at least 6 weeks before your trip if you think you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel.
Please use the link below to print off our travel questionnaire.
Once you have completed the form, please bring it with you to our reception and we will then arrange an appointment with the Practice Nurse for you at a mutually convenient time.
Please be aware that in general, any vaccinations would need to be given at least 2 weeks before you travel in order for them to be effective during your trip.
The Practice Nurse will assess the information you have given and decide which vaccinations you require and any travel advice you may need.
If you do not need any vaccinations, the Nurse will telephone you to let you know, and will cancel your appointment.
If it transpires you require an anti malarial medication, unfortunately these are not allowed to be prescribed on the NHS. Some anti malarial medications are available to buy over the counter at the Pharmacy, others have to be presribed on a private prescription, which will incur a charge.
There may be times we are unable to offer travel advice at the surgery. The reasons for this can be, for example, the vaccination you require cannot be given in the surgery e.g. yellow fever, the Nursing team may be short staffed or be exceptionally busy. Whilst we understand your travel vaccinations may be a priority to you, unfortunately there may be more urgent treatments that would take precedence.
If we are unable to help you with your travel vaccinations there are a number of private clinics that offer this service. Here are a few examples;
Superdrug Travel Clinic Tel 01382 224553 or
Total Travel Health Tel 07967 622186 or
MASTA Arbroath Tel 03301 004099
